A thoughtful collection of ancient haberdashery and curiosities, including:

• a vintage Catholic confirmation souvenir card with a mezzotint of a sculpture by F. Maria Bernard titled "Salve Regina". On the reverse is the date February 1962, handwritten in French

• a beautifully worn and ancient cloth tape measure in centimetres with the makers' name printed in repeat along one length: "Fil Cablé Au Louis D'Or", a prestigious manufacturer of thread since the nineteenth century. Most likely the measure was produced to advertise the latest sewing machine threads that were newly available at that time. The cloth still has one metal-tipped end, but it is extremely rusty and the material has been stained as a result of years in storage. The shapely numbers are a reminder of a time when even the most humble objects were things of beauty and worth

• A single, zinc printing plate with the letter 'R' in good, used condition, with markings around the letter shape

• 8 unused vintage mother of pearl buttons on a foil-backed card in a smoky-grey colour with iridescent highlights

• 2 well worn religious medals, one of which is of St Benedict, which is traditionally worn as protection from curses, evil and vice, and against diseases by protecting good health. The reverse side of the medal carries the Vade retro satana ('Begone, Satan!')

• a tiny, curious little object: stone-like but probably man-made, with an oddly wonky shape. It is strangely heavy for such a small thing, so it possibly contains lead. No clue as to it's age or place of origin

• a single, hand-embroidered white cotton vintage hankie
