Beautiful brass locket pin with an ivy border and a sepia-toned photograph of a very grumpy little girl, aged maybe 5 or 6, pouting at the camera.
With a large bow in her bobbed hair, her big eyes and downturned mouth, she is the classic little Victorian girl unhappily forced to sit still for her portrait, which would probably at that time have taken fifteen minutes or more.
Measuring just 3cm in diameter, the brooch is in good condition for it's age. The pretty ivy leaves around the edge show just a little verdigris in the details and the catch on the back is slightly bent, making it a little tricky to open.
The locket may once have held glass, although none remains now and there are slight scratches on the aged surface of the photograph.
